Sending Games
This is our recommended swapping guide.
Once you've agreed a swap you have 14 days to fulfil it by sending your game off
to the other swapper.
Create A Paper Trail
We highly recommend using a form of delivery that involves a posting receipt - it
varies from country to country but generally all postal schemes provide insurance
should your item get lost in the mail (it can happen!) - you may need to send
your item from a post office to qualify for this.
You can normally also get
additional delivery receipt/signature options as proof that your game was actually
delivered. Again, we'd highly recommend this. It is a small price to pay for
your peace of mind.
Send Early
We expect both swappers to send their games off at the same time.
In some cases, nervous swappers will anxiously wait for the other swapper to send
their game first. This can result in a long-running stand-off.
However, please remember, if you follow the posting recommendations outlined above you
will have:
Receipt of sending
Receipt of delivery (possibly a signature)
The other swapper's name and address
This should be enough information to invoke police action or take the other swapper
to court if they fail to send your new game. Should such a situation arise, Swopster
will release full, detailed documentation of the agreed exchange to the appropriate
authorities at your request.
One At A Time
After agreeing to swap a game, you will find you cannot swap any more games through
Swopster until the other swapper has provided some feedback about you.
You should solicit feedback as soon as possible after the exchange.
Remember, until you post feedback for the other swapper, they will not be able to
swap again within Swopster either.
If the swap is not completed for some reason, or your feedback has not been filled in,
please contact support and we will see if we can assist. Please note that each side
has 14 days to complete the swap in. It's only after these 14 days that support
will get involved if necessary.
Cancelling
Should you have second thoughts about your agreed swap or an unforeseen problem arises,
you can both cancel the swap by setting the feedback rating to 'Cancelled swap'. You
should only do this in agreement with the other swapper, as long as no-one has sent any
games.
Cancelled swaps will have no effect on your Swopster ranking, although they will still
be shown to other members in your public swapping history.
Swapping Disputes
If the other swapper leaves negative feedback, you will find your Swopster ranking
will be negatively affected and you will find it very difficult to get other members to
agree to swap with you.
As a first course of action, communicate with the other swapper to resolve the problem.
If the other swapper claims your game never arrived, and you have proof of delivery,
we will fix your feedback and immediately ban the other swapper.
For your safety, IP-logging, address matching and fraud analysis are just some of
the measures we employ to constantly monitor the system. These flag up suspicious
activity and also help to stop banned members from re-joining.
