Swapping Games
Okay, after you've set up your account and added your games, what's next?
Well, now you will need to go to your main Swapping page. Here you'll
see a list of any matches we've found for you:
Where there are matches, you can see details on who is matched with you
by clicking on the matches link:
All the members who can complete this swap are listed for you to consider. Each
member has a ranking together with how many swaps they've completed:
You can see details of all the swaps they've done by simply clicking on their name:
If the member hasn't already asked you to swap, you can issue a formal swap request.
Simply tick each member you'd be happy to swap with and then click the 'Request'
button.
By issuing a swap request like this, you are giving your approval to swap with the
first member who agrees to swap with you. Just to double-check and make sure you'll
be asked to confirm the swap requests you want to issue:
If you agree to this, each member you've agreed with then has however many days you
set the expiry date at to agree to swap with you (meaning swap requests will eventually
expire so you don't have to hang around forever waiting for a response).
During this waiting period, you can still cancel the swap request if you decide
against swapping with a particular member. Simply tick the member(s) you'd sent
a swap request to and click 'Cancel Swap'.
You are free to be involved in multiple swap requests if you wish, even with the
same game. As soon as a member agrees to one of your swap requests, all associated
swap requests will be immediately cancelled for you.
Even if there are no immediate swap matches, there are still a couple of other ways
in which you can find possible swaps within the Swopster network:
- Alternative matches
- Available/Wanted
Alternative Matches
Back when you looked at your gaming profile, there was a list of your console and
category preferences:
These are used to find alternative matches for you that you may not have considered
when you built your original WishList. If there are any alternative matches, these
are shown on your swapping page:
Simply click on the link and you'll see a list of the games your could swap your
game for...if you added them to your WishList:
Available/Wanted
Another way to discover swaps yourself is through the Available/Wanted icons you'll
see around the site. These are next to some games when you're browsing through
building your game lists, and you'll sometimes also see Wanted icons on your main
swapping page:
Available show how many members own this game and would like to swap it, while
Wanted shows how many members have this game on their WishList and would like to
own it.
By clicking on the relevant link, you can see a list of these members:
By then clicking on the member's name, you can even see their full list of games:
Where members have messaging switched-on, you can click on the small envelope next to
their name to send a mail message. This is useful for asking members if they'd
like to swap specific games and for triggering swaps with them.
